Congratulations on your decision to move to Latitude Margaritaville!
I live in Margaritaville – Hilton Head and making the decision to move here after living in the same house in the Northeast for 43 years, was the best thing I’ve ever done. However, it was a challenge to decide what to bring to my new home, what to get rid of, and how to place the furniture in my new space, especially being so far away.
Even as a Certified Re-designer & Decorator, I wrestled with the decision whether to keep my things or to buy new. I loved some of my pieces but they seemed dark, not the light, open, airy look I wanted. But the quality was far better than what is routinely on the market today and the wait times for new furniture purchases can be as much as a year! Waiting for the build to be completed and having to put my things in POD storage until the new house was complete, I was anxious to get the whole thing figured out and keep the cost as low as possible.
So. I developed a planning process that pulled my look together in advance of moving, saving me the cost of storing and moving things I wasn’t going to use in the new space and preventing me from getting rid of things I loved that could work with a little planning and refreshing. Following this process while I was waiting for the build was fun and exciting. It gave me time to sell things I wanted to get rid of and refresh the things I wanted to keep. It helped me budget my moving and storage costs. It helped me create a cohesive plan, figure out what I wanted to purchase, and cut lead times on what I wanted to buy because I could make the purchase before I moved in. It helped me get a jump start on everything. Moving in was easy because I knew exactly where I wanted each piece and each box to go so I just pointed and the movers did the rest.
It was a rewarding process that kept me productive, excited, and out of overwhelm and confusion as I waited for my home to be completed. I invite you to explore how you can do that too.
